Dr. Shmidt graduated with her medical degree from the prestigious Medical University in Vladivostok, Russia. She has a wealth of knowledge in traditional medicine, nutrition, and holistic medicine. Notably, in 1989, she was one of the first students to go through the one-of-a-kind Osteoreception program at the Institute of Clinical Medicine in Riga, Latvia. After 10 years of her medical practice, including her residency in acupuncture, Dr. Shmidt moved to the United States. Since 1994, she has been a Diplomate of the National Board of Acupuncture, NY State licensed. Her credentials include Advanced Hypnotherapy Certification with numerous top US master trainers. She is a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and the International Hypnosis Federation (IHF).

During Dr. Shmidt's psychiatric rotation in medical school, she studied hypnosis and learned how effective hypnotherapy is in helping patients with pain management, substance abuse, panic attacks, insomnia, and other problems. This discovery led to decades of research and use of hypnotherapy to achieve remarkable results in behavior modification for vast improvements in quality of life. Among her many certifications in hypnotherapy, is a certificate in Advanced Clinical Hypnosis at the Institute of Hypnotherapy in New Jersey. In fact, Dr. Shmidt’s list of degrees, certifications, and other academic credentials in hypnotherapy and acupuncture is so extensive, that it requires a separate web page.

Suffice it to say that Dr. Shmidt learned from some of the top experts and programs in each field and combined the best of them all in her practice, established in 2002.

With her exceptional intellectual ability and training, Dr. Shmidt understands the complexity of human being, especially the connection between the body and mind. Her treatments are based on the individual’s needs to be healthy, beautiful and happy. Oriental medicine, especially acupuncture, can benefit the patients in relieving the symptoms and improving the prognosis for complete recovery. Dr. Shmidt has demonstrated a very high success rate with trigeminal neuralgia, Bell’s palsy, all kinds of pain (neck, lower back, etc.), sciatica, arthritis, nearsightedness for kids, urinary incontinence, etc.

Medical Doctor

Dr. Natalia Shmidt is classically trained in medicine, including going through the Soviet medical system that is legendary for its high standards and rigorous approach - thereby graduating some of the most respected doctors in every field. She continued studying both Western and Eastern medicine from the most recognized and respected schools and programs in the former Soviet Union.

Some programs in hypnosis, for example, are only accessible to medical doctors to ensure competency and integrity. That’s why Dr. Shmidt’s medical training put her into a unique position to learn the most advance techniques in various forms of therapy.

Once she moved to the United States, Dr. Shmidt continued her education by going through some of the most respected programs in acupuncture and hypnosis. As a result of her over 30 years of medical expertise, Dr. Shmidt can draw on massive amounts of research in her evaluations and procedures.

Hypnotherapy

There is a reason so many people come to Dr. Shmidt’s for hypnotherapy after their other treatment options elsewhere have failed. With extensive training, certifications, and licensing in key areas of alcohol and smoking cessation, pediatric hypnosis, and thinner band hypnosis, she is able to achieve remarkable and consistent results in patients after only a few months of sessions.

Research has shown that, in those who are hypnotizable, hypnosis affects certain brain regions. As a result, hypnotherapy is able to openly examine - and modify - behaviors. This allows trained practitioners like Dr. Shmidt to improve people’s lives by reprogramming the brain into positive, quality of life enhancing behaviors.

The modification of behavior leads to a healthier lifestyle where positive actions happen naturally. This is the essence of Dr. Shmidt’s unique and powerful expertise.

Acupuncturist

From her completion of the Advanced Acupuncture Program at the world-famous Botkin’s Hospital, Institute of Advancement in Medicine in Moscow to her becoming a New York State Licensed and National Board Certified Acupuncturist (NCCA), Dr. Shmidt has a uniquely deep and comprehensive understanding of acupuncture.

In 1989, she became one of the first students invited into the famous, one-of-a-kind Osteoreception program of Professor Yankovsky at the Institute of Clinical Medicine in Riga, Latvia. In this program - which draws students from as far as Australia - Dr. Shmidt learned to perform an extremely-effective acupuncture therapy. This allowed Dr.Shmidt to treat myopia (nearsighted) in children up to the age of 15 y.o., bronchial asthma, and joint disorders with a very high success rate.

As an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist certified by Lincoln Hospital, she understands the nuances of using acupuncture to achieve definitive results for substance abuse patients.

Acupuncture relies on an intricate understanding of the internal working of the body, how everything is connected. It is the ultimate mastery of cause and effect. Expert acupuncturists, like Dr. Shmidt can apply pressure to a point on your body knowing exactly what beneficial effect this will have on a specific organ, for example.

Besides therapeutic applications, Dr. Shmidt is also expertly trained in facial lifting acupuncture. Understanding why certain applications of pressure result in skin improvements is part of Dr. Shmidt’s deep understanding of the principles and practical effects of acupuncture.

Sound Therapy

Dr. Shmidt is the Director of the New York Center of Sound Healing, Educational and Training Division. Her fascination with sound and vibration therapy may go as far as her childhood love for music, with both her and her mother playing the piano. Dr. Shmidt’s research into sound healing included training at the Kairos Institute of Sound Healing and studying the Tuning Fork Therapy System.

So what is sound therapy? In essence, it’s using sound to unlock our memories, be they on the muscular, cellular, or emotional level.

Every cell in the human body resonates with certain rhythmic cycles. Likewise, internal organs resonate with their own cycles and vibration frequencies. Thus, all our bodily systems react to sound vibration, as do our spiritual, mental, and emotional states.

Like many other sound therapists, Dr. Shmidt found that losing touch with natural rhythms and cycles of the Universe may result in the loss of necessary equilibrium in the body and ultimately cause a host of diseases. Sound therapy aims to restore harmony and balance to the body, bring about peace of mind and reconnect the patient with the natural cycles of the cosmos.

In practical terms, sound therapy uses certain musical instruments – from ancient harps, Tibetan bowls and bells, rattles, drums and gongs to the most modern of tuning forks – for a beneficial effect.

We often remember you as both a wonderful human being and a top specialist. We remember how you helped many people. To this day, thanks to you, Lyuda doesn’t have that horrible trigeminal neuralgia pain that tortured her half her life. We wish you the best - good health, happiness, success, and that you continue helping other sufferers.

We just had our holiday party at work. Everyone was drinking, open bar, and in every previous year I would get drunk. It always ended really bad. But this year I had zero desire. Not even one shot. I felt so good and the day after too. It’s like a completely different life, so much healthier. Thanks to Dr. Shmidt!

For 22 years I smoked at least one pack every day. I couldn’t imagine myself not smoking. But the coughing got really bad and I’m afraid of cancer. So I tried the patch but still wanted to smoke. Broke after a week. I heard about Dr. Shmidt from a friend who quit smoking. She said she doesn’t even want to smoke now. I laughed at her. But it’s true!! Dr. Shmidt got me to quit smoking. Finally! I’m so happy!

All my friends are getting facelifts. I’m really into the natural lifestyle: eat vegan, do yoga every day. I’ve tried acupuncture 5 years ago for back pain. And then i heard about acupuncture for facial rejuvenation. Dr. Shmidt explained everything and I’ve been going to her for 7 sessions now. Wow! I feel 5 years younger and look too. Some people are afraid that it’s painful, but I knew it’s not. It’s like taking a nap and waking up young. Feel so beautiful - thank you Dr. Shmidt!
